Wednesday June 6th and 13th 12 noon to 1pm Monument Terrace
Lunchtime Tales on the Terrace - Enjoy Master Storyteller Dr. Gwynn W. Ramsey and others as they make folk tales come alive on Beautiful Historic Monument Terrace 9th and Church Streets. Bring your bag lunch!
Admission: Free to the public.

Thursday June 14 6pm - 9pm Lynchburg Community Market 12th and Main Streets
Ice Cream Twirl (Open Square Dance and Ice Cream Social) - This Family friendly non-alcoholic event will feature good old fashioned fun! From 6-7 learn the basic steps from professional instructors and callers from 7 - 9pm it is an open dance.
All ages Welcome!
Admission: $2.00 admission includes ice cream sampling

Friday


Friday Cheers moves to the Riverfront: 5:30-9pm. A great concert and kick off for an awesome weekend of family fun.

More than 20 Food Concessions: You name it, we've got it! From traditional food fare to gourmet selections. So, come hungry!

Crafters Ally (Friday and Saturday): A variety of arts and crafts from all over the country. Jewlery, home decor, spinners, quilted bags, personalized gifts and more will be available for purchase. (Most craft vendors accept cash, checks and Visa or MC.)

Monster Mural Attention all budding Picassos! This 6ft X 20ft Art Mural is the coolest festival backdrop ever and you will help create it! This mural will feature many of the things we love about Lynchburg! Don't miss your opportunity to make your mark!

Children's Play Park (10am-4pm). This area will be filled with fun things for your wee ones to enjoy. From simple historic storytelling to modern day children's activities, the little ones in your life will have a ball!

Percival's Island Overlook Dedication 10:30- 11
Percival's Island Trail
You are welcome to be a part of this dedication of the City of Lynchburg's official Jamestown 2007 Legacy Project. This beautiful overlook will give festival goers a birds eye view of the Batteau Launch annually and will provide years of enjoyment year round to bikers, hikers and outdoor enthusiast utilizing the James River Heritage Trail in historic Downtown Lynchburg.

Historic Hands-on Village, presented by Bank of the James (10am-4pm). History comes alive with costumed re-enactors tending to daily chores just like they did in the 1700's and 1800's. More than a dozen demos feature 18th century cooking, medical practices, midwifery, period music, historic characters, wood craftsman, children's games and much more.

Batteau Launch, Percival's Island (12 noon). Costumed re-enactors pay homage to Lynchburg's history by making the same voyage from Lynchburg to Richmond just as the tobacco trade did in the 1700's and 1800's

Meet John Lynch, the founding father of Lynchburg. Sing river chanteys with a Batteau riverboat man. Meet a revolutionary war soldier, a Native American Indian, a midwife and Dr. Gates a confederate doctor from the Lynchburg Confederate Army Hospital. There will also be children's games and a chance to "make and take" an authentic church doll.

The Shade Stage (10-4pm) Enjoy a variety of award winning music, storytelling and dancing in shaded comfort. Artist include.......

Academy Batteau Art Show and Sale (10am - 3pm). A variety of art mediums will be represented at this arts and crafts show including oils, watercolors, still lifes, pottery, quilts, jewelry, mixed media, photography, monoprints and collages. Something for every art lover. Presented by the Academy of Fine Arts.

Patriot Parade (Following the Batteau Launch). This fun march begins immediately following the departure of the last batteau down the James River. Festival goers are invited to join costumed characters and marching musicians as they head back across the bridge into the festival

AACA Antique Car Show (10am-4pm). The AACA Antique Car Show is being held in conjunction with the Batteau Festival and will feature nearly 100 antique vehicles from the beginning of the 20th century up to 1980. Presented by the Lynchburg Chapter of the AACA

The Great American Dog Disc Show! Presented by AEP (10:30am, 11:30am & 2:00pm). Jeff and his impressive team of Australian Shepherd's achieved World Champion status winning the Hyperflite-Skyhoundz World Championship in 2003. Witness an in-depth experience into the world of Disc-Dog sports. This show features Bowditch,a three-year-old Border Collie who quickly rose to World Championship status in 2004. Come see the show that traveled to China in 2005!

Children's Play Park (10am-4pm) This area will be filled with fun things for your wee ones to enjoy. From street performers and storytelling to modern day children's activities like bouncers, trains and rides the little ones in your life will have a ball!

  • The Mckenzies Learn about Period Music and Dance from the 18th Century 10:30 and 11:30
  • Traveling Jack and Company Puppetry and Storytelling 11:00 & 1:00
  • Blue Ridge Stars Learn how to square dance 12:30 & 2:00

Food Concessions/Shade tent area Presented by the Virginia Pork Industry Board (10am-4pm & 6pm-10pm). You name it, we've got it, from traditional food fare to gourmet selections. You better come hungry!

Kids Jump! (10am-4pm). Get ready to bounce, slide and play the day away with a children's area filled with festive bouncers, a sky high climbing wall and a ginourmous tiger slide. It's all free and waiting for your children to enjoy!

Children's Stage and Strolling entertainment (10am-4pm). This children's area will showcase Nationally acclaimed children's entertainment. Stilt walkers, a Grammy nominated singer/storyteller and more ! These performances will entertain the young and young at heart. Schedule to be announced soon.

Shade Stage Area (10- 4 pm).Dine in shaded comfort while you enjoy acoustic duos, period music, clogging and square dance performances. Featuring The McKenzies, Blue Ridge Stars, and the Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers.
Featuring The Taters -- playing an eclectic mix of roots rock, pop, country, skiffle & Americana, a sound that's been compared favorably to a mixture of Everlys, Orbison, Beatles, and Nick Lowe.

Junteenth Stage Area (10-3) Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Our Junteenth stage will commemorate African American freedom and will emphasize education and achievement. This stage will be filled with singers, poets, dancers and musicians from the Lynchburg African American community. Featuring....

Juneteenth Health Fair : We're making it easy for you to take care of yourself! Browse the Health fair area and meet with area health care professionals from Centra Health, The Red Cross, and Humana. The CHAP van, Mammography Van and other services will be available! Take the time to educate yourself on these important issues, you're worth it!

Finale Concert -The Music of Chicago with Transit Authority! Transit Authority performs an exciting and powerful tribute to the best horn driven power rock band ever, Chicago ! Everyone knows and loves these great hit songs! No matter what your age, color or creed this is the kind of music that transcends all boundaries. Eight Talented musicians do a fantastic job performing these songs accurately and faithfully while still retaining the jam type element of the music. This is just one of the many reasons why their show will be returning to the Epcot Center at Walt Disney World , Florida in late June of 07. So get up, get out, take the ride that is the music of Chicago with Transit Authority!
Gates open at 6pm. (6pm-10pm).
